Session 1: There are no wrong answers- confidence and creativity for teens

This workshop shares practical, low-prep activities for teenage learners. By having tasks for which there are no wrong answers, learner confidence will be boosted, they’ll be creative, and will think outside the box. All the activities in the workshop can be adapted to different ages and levels, and can be used with any coursebook/materials.

Session 2: Bringing text alive- Producing a Play

This workshop provides teachers with practical ideas on how to produce a play. The session looks at the process of production and everything involved in it. From budget planning, costume design, props needed, to making sense of the script, this workshop helps teachers find the light at the end of the tunnel, play production-wise.

Session 3: English for employability: why and how English teachers should prepare learners for their career journey

This workshop gives English language teachers creative ideas to design and scaffold practical and fun learning experiences for teenager/adult learners to help them in their career journey. Smart lesson objectives will prepare language learners for job hunting, office life and the soft skills they will need in their careers.

Session 4: Drama and creativity in the teen classroom

This session explores a set of drama activities that can be used in the teens’ classroom to trigger their creative thinking. The activities include hot seating, thought tracking, role on the wall and freeze frames. These activities can be used to teach different school subjects and an be adapted for online classes.

About the speakers
Teresa Bestwick is a teacher trainer and materials writer based in Spain. She is the newsletter editor for the organisation TESOL-SPAIN and also runs an online development group for ELT professionals. In her free time, she enjoys walking, watching sci-fi and learning German.
Jazmin Cazal is a passionate teacher of English with a solid background in theatre. Having acted in, produced and directed Musicals both for children and with children, she knows the ins and outs of putting a play together. She teaches for the British Council in Paris, France.
Ehsan Gorji is an Iranian teacher, teacher trainer and teacher educator. He designs strategic plans, devises study syllabuses, runs quality-check observations, and develops materials and tests for different language institutes and schools around the globe. He currently owns and manages THink™ Learning & Teaching Solutions, and also works as TED-Ed Student Talks Leader.
Siham Merzouk currently works with the British Council Kuwait, has taught in both public and private schools in Algeria and Kuwait, and has delivered training sessions for CERT+ and TYLEC courses. She is interested in teaching young learners: their engagement, communication, behaviour, and building their confidence and well-being.
