A busy city at nightime

Introduction

In this lesson, students will explore the topic of cities and migration. They will begin by exploring why cities have growing / declining populations. They will listen to an interview which describes the concepts of 'magnets' (what attracts people to a city) and 'glue' (what keeps people in a city). They have the option of reviewing vocabulary related to demographic change, before participating in a speaking activity - either a presentation or a role-play.

Learning outcomes

  • Give reasons why people move to a city and stay there
