Thanks for your message. We are currently looking at our phonemic chart and have updated the image on the page you mention. The chart in the image is from a British Council classroom poster, and should be the same as the updated image on our phonemic chart page.

Phonemic symbols will enhance our pronunciation awareness. The study of pronunciation holds significant importance as it enables us to grasp the proper comprehension and articulation of English.

It is a very important lesson especially for teachers to find out the correct pronunciation, and reflect on the learners. It is not necessary to let beginners memorize the phonemic symbols but use it as much as possible. It more important for advanced learners to master this.
