Welcome to 'TeachingEnglish: How to teach grammar'
How will the course help you?
Discover how to help your learners notice, make sense of, and become more confident using grammar with engaging, meaning-focused teaching. Learn about deductive and inductive approaches to grammar teaching, how to evaluate the best approach for your learners and identify contexts and tasks which encourage 'noticing'.
What does the course include?
How to teach grammar is a free self-study training course, which is divided into three hour modules. It also includes:
- A dedicated Facebook community of course participants with up-to-date insight, resources and innovative ideas for you to try out.
- Engaging discussions taking place in the Facebook community
- Live events with your course tutor and language teaching experts.
- A free workbook with extra learning content and resources.
What will you learn?
- Module 1: Methods and approaches for grammar
This module provides an introduction to a range of English language teaching approaches. You'll explore and contrast a variety of deductive and inductive approaches before going on to evaluate these in relation to your own learners and context.
- Module 2: Engaging with grammar - noticing and restructuring
The module looks at a range of tasks which encourage ‘noticing’ in addition to ‘restructuring’ activities. You will have the opportunity to modify grammar exercises and design restructuring activities.
- Module 3: Engaging with grammar - different approaches
The aim of this module is to explore deductive and inductive approaches to teaching grammar. You will look at a range of techniques to introduce grammar.

Estimated Date of Possible Reopening + Progress Saved?
Hello,
Hope this message finds you well
I've two questions I'd like to ask:
1. Unfortunately I wasn't able to complete this wonderful and beneficial course in time. I know from the schedule given for the courses of 2024-25 that this course may not reopen very soon, however I'd like to know if there's an estimated date for when it will reopen.
2. Since I've already finished module one and 2/3rds of module two, will this progress be saved for me when it reopens?
Thank you in advance and have a delightful day/afternoon/evening/night ahead ^_^

Issue Accessing Training Courses
Dear Support Team,
I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention an issue I have been experiencing with accessing my training courses on your platform.
Upon logging into my account, I am unable to access the training courses that I have enrolled in. Despite logging in, the system does not grant me access to the courses, and I am unable to proceed with my training as a result.
I have attempted to troubleshoot the issue by logging in and out, as well as using different devices and browsers, but the problem persists. I have also cleared my browser cache and cookies, yet the issue remains unresolved.
I would appreciate it if you could look into this issue on an urgent basis and provide me with a solution to regain access to my training courses.

For teaching with young people, adults or both?
Hi, are these training courses designed for teaching children, adults or both? The photos would suggest these modules are focused on working with young people. I'd be grateful if you could clarify.
Courses
Hi harrypickup
Thanks for your comment - most of our training courses are suitable for teachers teaching a range of ages and levels, unless specifically aimed at a life stage (for example primary learners) in which case this will be clear from the course title.
Hope that helps and that you enjoy the course,
Cath

Teaching grammar can be a challenging task?
Teaching grammar can be a challenging task, but it can also be made engaging and effective by incorporating various strategies and activities.
Start Date in 2023
Looking forward to the next intake for this course. I hope this course will be offered again in 2023
The Fresh Teacher's Request
Please hold this online course again in 2023 without waiting for 2024 because I need to know how to teach grammar implicitly so that the students learn English smoothly.
Continuation after End Date/Deadline?
Dear Team good day. I was not able to beat the set deadline for this course: my phone crashed. So, I stopped at Module 3 with a seventy percent (70%) completion. Now, that the course has ended but would possibly be reopened sometime in 2023, would I still be able to finish up from where I last stopped the course (70% completion?) instead of possibly starting afresh? I would not like all my past work to go in vain because I could not beat the deadline. Please, help!
Deadline for course
Hello Master Tobi
Sorry to say that this course has now ended - it was available for four weeks from 30th August - we hope to offer it again in 2023.
thanks,
