TeachingEnglish webinars for teacher educators

If you have a role in supporting the professional development of teachers, then it’s time to register for the British Council’s monthly teacher educator webinar series.

You are a teacher educator if you support the professional development of teachers, including for example:

  • informally providing advice to early career teachers in a school setting
  • delivering training to teachers within a ministry of education teacher development programme
  • working as an e-moderator within a MOOC for teachers
  • working as a tutor on a certificate or diploma level teacher qualification course in a private training institute
  • overseeing professional development provision as a school principal or director of studies
  • conducting academic research into teacher education in a university setting
  • facilitating a community of practice made up of teachers working on a collaborative output
  • working as an inspector or supervisor evaluating the competence and performance of classroom teachers
  • formally mentoring undergraduate/postgraduate teachers-in-training.

Our teacher educator webinars are designed to provide professional development opportunities for you to develop professionally through interactive activities and opportunities to reflect and comment on key themes within teacher education. Joining these monthly sessions will give you access to a global network and audience of English Language Teaching experts, educators and trainers who are involved in supporting teachers.

Examples from our planned series of webinars include presentations and activities relating to:

  • Competences to develop further in supporting teachers online
  • Gender in language teacher education
  • How to encourage teachers to engage with research
  • How to overcome barriers to accessing the online environment

and many more thought-provoking themes. Don't miss this opportunity to join our global teacher educator network.

Hi Dalal

A good question! I would say a teacher educator facilitates or runs training courses or events for teachers, whereas a mentor might work with individual teachers offering less "formal" advice or training, but more as someone to bounce ideas off, guide teachers and also to model good teaching practices in their own classrooms.
