About the speakers

Hala Ahmed is based in Cairo and leads on British Council Teacher Professional Development Programmes in Egypt. In more than 12 years with the British Council, Hala has been a teacher, a teacher trainer, a teacher mentor, and an academic manager of several national and regional projects to support refugees, schoolteachers and teacher educators.

Lucy Norris is an educator, writer and an independent international education consultant for primary and secondary state school teacher development and training. She loves creating, learning and working with teachers of all subjects. Lucy wrote about Mobile Pedagogy in language teaching during a research role at The Open University. Her research and professional interests include CLIL, multilingual approaches to learning, creative pedagogy and digital literacies.

Karen Waterston has been teaching for over 25 years and has been involved in teacher development for more than 10 years in Libya, Qatar, Mongolia, the UK, Thailand and Sri Lanka. She holds a DELTA and MEd in ELT and Technology. She has a particular interest in teaching in low resource environments and teaching large classes as well as using digital tools to enhance the teaching and learning experience.

Supporting material for this webinar

This publication provides practical ideas and activities on how teacher educators can help teachers gain confidence in the use of technology for teaching and learning. The guide can be used on a one-to-one basis or with groups of teachers. Use the guide to get an idea of teachers’ strengths and weaknesses using the self-reflection page and then create a professional development plan with and for your teachers. Our webinars are free.

They take place in Zoom. You do not need any special equipment to watch the webinars apart from a computer with the audio on.

Certificates

Certificates of attendance are available for all attendees. The link to obtain your certificate is provided in the following places:

  • In the 'Thank you for attending email' that you will receive 1 day after the webinar.
  • At the end of the feedback survey once you have answered the questions.
  • You should type your name on the certificate and download it. We recommend using Google Chrome or Internet Explorer to do this.

Where possible, we will make a PDF copy of the presentation available for you to download. However, for copyright reasons, this may not always be allowed
