There are currently more than 22 million people in Britain who work as volunteers for many different organisations.

In this lesson, students will talk about what is important in a job, and read about some unusual voluntary jobs. Students will then read an article about the current situation of volunteering in the UK, and then can go on to take part in a discussion on volunteering and a role play activity.

• To practise speaking skills doing a mini-survey
• To develop job-related lexis
• To practise reading skills


Age group: 12 - adult


Level: B1/ B2


Time: 60 - 90 minutes
