It's a great tool to help familiarise your learners with common food terms. The poster also comes accompanied with a set of teacher's notes, which contain ideas to help you to:
present new vocabulary and practise pronunciation
practise vocabulary through games
recycle vocabulary with categories
build on vocabulary with functional language and grammar practice.
You can download both the poster and teacher's notes within the Downloads section further down the page,
Games to practise new vocabulary include:
Write the words you want to practise on the board. Ask one learners to come to the front and point to an item on the poster, and ask another learner to find the correct word on the board. Ask the class if this is the correct word. Can the class pronounce the word correctly?
Play ‘I went to the shop and I bought …'. Start by saying ‘I went to the shop and bought some rice.' The next person has to repeat your sentence and add an item, for example ‘I went to the shop and I bought some rice and a pizza.' Continue around the class until someone makes a mistake. You could prompt students to use ‘a'/‘an'/‘some' as appropriate.
