Computer-based testing, or CBT, is testing using a computer for all or part of the test.

Computer-based testing is cheaper, more accessible and easier to administer than manual forms of testing but there are limitations, as CBT which evaluates speaking or writing still requires human examiners.

Example
IELTS now has computer-based versions, and the TOEFL is now a computer-based test.

In the classroom
Students who are preparing for a computer-based test need real-time practice of doing test items on computer.
