About this event

This event will explore how different people learn and how we can use this knowledge when planning our classes. Our speakers will share teaching tips and techniques for lesson plans that meet the needs of all our learners. You will find out about how drawing content summaries can make lessons more accessible and how to focus on learners' needs when planning to make your classes more learning-centred.

About the sessions

Session 1: Accessibility in the multi-level classroom

Speaker:

Emily Bryson

Time and date:

12 February 2025 15.00–16.00 (UK time)

Session information:

Every learner is different, and it is essential to adapt our lessons to meet everyone's needs. In this workshop, we will first explore specific learning differences as well as ways to overcome barriers to learning, such as developing literacy and digital skills. Then I will share simple teaching activities and tips that have made my own lessons more accessible, including using colourful and creative graphic facilitation techniques.

Session 2: Planning for learning (not teaching)

Speaker:

Gabriel Díaz Maggioli

Time and date:

12 February 2025 16.15–17.15 (UK time)

Session information:

What if we flipped the logic of lesson planning? Most of our daily planning focuses on what we want to do so that students achieve learning outcomes. However, how many times do we really put ourselves into our learners' shoes while planning? In this session we will explore how people learn and, therefore, how they might be taught. By the end of the webinar, you will have ideas on how to create learning-centred lesson plans, teaching and assessment strategies.

Session 3: Panel discussion: How do we use differentiation in our classes?

Speakers:

TBC

Time and date:

12 February 2025 17.30–18.30 (UK time)

Session information:

Three teachers from around the world discuss differentiation in their classes.
