English-Medium Instruction in Higher Education in the Countries of the South Caucasus

This report explores the experience of English-medium education in universities of the South Caucasus.

The report presents the context for English-Medium Instruction (EMI) in Higher Education (HE) and the experiences and views of key stakeholders in the three countries of the South Caucasus: The Republic of Armenia, The Republic of Azerbaijan, and Georgia.

A general section on English-medium instruction is followed by sections on education and language in the three countries, an explanation of the research and the methods used and then sections on the student experience and on the staff and institutional experiences. Policy measures to be taken by the Ministries of Education are also proposed. The work is based on site visits, focus groups, interviews and a large-scale online survey.
