Looking for a new opportunity for professional development?
During the summer, Chris Hall and Rachel Wicaksono from York St John University announced a new version of the Changing Englishes online course for teachers, a free self-study resource designed to help trainee and practising teachers of English meet the new challenges—and realise the benefits—of Global Englishes.
Just a few months on and they have released a complete site upgrade, introducing a sleeker look and several major enhancements, including:
- individual user accounts, allowing users to bookmark and keep track of their progress
- dedicated within-site discussion board and reflection forum for interaction with other users
- easier navigation to course resources and information
- full compatibility with mobile devices
Course users are taken through five self-paced units which introduce new conceptualisations of English and explore their implications for learning, teaching and use. The course typically takes between 10 to 15 hours to complete and all content is free for users to incorporate into their own online teaching or training programmes.
