Nicholas Shaw: Developing teacher development video resources

Nic's practical talk looks at developing video resources for teacher development.

Teaching For Success Online Conference 5-9 October 2016

About the webinar

This presentation will provide an overview of how PEELI (Punjab Education and English Language Initiative) has integrated the Teaching for Success approach, before going into detail about our teacher development videos. Hopefully it will provide you with a clear, real-life example of how Teaching for Success can be applied to CPD at both a macro and micro level.

We will start the session by exploring PEELI, focusing on the project’s logic model and theory of change, before analysing how its design embodies Teaching for Success principles. This should demonstrate an important element of the Teaching for Success approach, namely that it supports and develops local CPD models according to the context and needs of the audience.

The rest of the presentation will focus on the video resources. Although we will only have time to view some short extracts from the films, these will exemplify clearly how they are informed by the Professional Practices and Stages of Development. I will also recount the production process , going into detail on how the Teaching for Success CPD Framework provided guidance, reference and inspiration along the way. This will be a good opportunity for me to share my reflections on the experience and what I have learnt.

We will finish with some questions about the presentation to stimulate reflection and application to your own contexts.
