A 2015 Harvard/MIT study of MOOC participants revealed that "as many as 39 percent of our learners [in MOOCs overall] are teachers".
Some have speculated that this is evidence of teachers of all subjects taking responsibility for their own continuing professional development in the absence of appropriate training from their employers and that MOOCs may have a vital role to play in enhancing traditional, face-to-face education as teachers take control of their own development.
Whether you are new to the world of MOOCs or an experienced MOOC participant, this talk looks at how you can use MOOCs as part of your continuing professional development by:
- collaborating with other teachers around the world
- improving your subject knowledge
- discovering new tools
- finding new opportunities
- forming connections
