Everyone has the right to education and everyone has the capability to make progress. In understanding these statements inclusive education today is being re-thought and the focus is very much on inclusive practices rather than ‘special education’ - based on approaches focused on policy, educational culture and practice. In this webinar we will explore what these approaches mean, consider some different models of inclusion and identify the skills, knowledge and understanding that can equip teacher educators in working with teachers in creating more inclusive classrooms and schools.

About the speaker
Phil Dexter is a British Council UK Education Senior Consultant responsible for continuous professional development for teachers with a specific focus on inclusive education and inclusive practices. Phil’s advises our British Council teams, teacher educators and Governments on approaches to inclusive education. Phil’s most recent consultancy involves working with Governments in South Africa, Tanzania, Chile, Uruguay, Spain and Germany. Phil has a Master’s Degree in English language studies from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and a Diploma in Special Educational Needs. Phil was recently awarded an MBE in the 2017 Queens Honours List for services to inclusive education.
