Downloading

We have a range of downloadable materials. Text files are in pdf (portable document format). In order to view these files you will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software which is available here:

Audio and video
All of the audio available on this site is streamed and is usually also available for download. See below for information on these different formats.

Streaming
Streaming files play while you are online. They cannot be listened to when you are not connected to the internet. To stream the files you will need the flash plug-in installed on your computer.

Downloading audio
Downloadable audio files are in mp3 format. This format can be played by a range of software such as Windows Media Player (Windows) or Quick Time Player (Macintosh). The audio file is saved on your computer and you can listen to the programme when you are not connected to the internet. If you do not have this software you can find it free on the following sites:-

Please note - file sizes for downloadable programmes may be very large and can take a long time to download depending on your connection speed. To download the audio file:

  • Right click on the download link (control + click for mac users)
  • Select 'Save target as' or 'Save link as'
  • Select location where you wish to save
  • Click save

What are the RSS feeds?
Teaching English provides an RSS feed on the main home page and also within individual sections. Rss feeds allow you to get the latest updates to the site delivered to your browser. This feature can be accessed either through an RSS enabled browser, such as Firefox or Safari RSS or through RSS News readers. For more information on RSS visit the main BBC site:
