In the three modules, you will learn:

Module 1  Introduction to inclusion

In this module, you'll learn about the nature of inclusion and exclusion, consider how you can make your school more inclusive and also think about the barriers to inclusion which exist generally in your own school and English classroom.

Module 2  Creating an inclusive classroom environment

In this module, you'll learn about the features of inclusive English classrooms, explore strategies that support inclusive teaching and learning and develop the ability to create an environment for differentiated learning. You’ll also identity and evaluate strategies to reduce barriers to developing listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.

Module 3  Making your school culture more inclusive

In this module, you'll learn about some of the wider issues around inclusion, both inside and outside your classroom. You’ll look at how to design inclusive assessment and how to develop materials based on principles of accessibility and inclusion. You’ll also see how to raise awareness of issues around inclusion in your classroom and with your peers.


What else does the course include?

Inclusive classrooms is a self-study training course, which is divided into three-hour modules. It also includes:

  • A dedicated Facebook community of course participants with up-to-date insight, resources and innovative ideas for you to try out.
  • Engaging discussions taking place in the Facebook community
  • Live events with your course tutor and language teaching experts.
  • A free workbook with extra learning content and resources.

When is the course?

Inclusive classrooms will be open from 2 April-30 September 2025. Enrolment is open now.


How much does the course cost?

The course is free.


How can you get a certificate?

You will receive a certificate if you successfully complete all self-study modules.


What level of English do you need?

Minimum CEFR B1.


How do you sign up for the course?

How do you access the course after you've enrolled?

IMPORTANT: If you didn't log out of TeachingEnglish after your previous visit, do this first.

From your desktop or laptop computer

1. Log in to your free TeachingEnglish account.
2. If you have enrolled in the course, you will see 'MY PORTFOLIO' in the menu bar at the top of the page next to the Home button.
3. Move your mouse over MY PORTFOLIO to see the drop-down menu.
4. Click on ‘My courses’ to access your training.

From your mobile device

1. Log in to your free TeachingEnglish account.
2. Tap the three horizontal lines next to the home button to open the menu.
3. Below ‘Home’, you will see MY PORTFOLIO and ‘My courses’ below. Tap on MY PORTFOLIO if you don’t see ‘My courses’.
4. Tap on ‘My courses’ to access your training.

Thanks for your message. I'm afraid this course is now closed, so you won't be able to enrol.

All of our free courses are only available for a limited period of time (the course dates are published on the course page). You can always download the course workbook (see link above), which has lots of useful information and resources related to the course.

I thought the access to this course is open until 5/01/2024? I started the course a couple of weeks ago and wanted to finish it today. Isn't it possible?

hi Cath,
Please can you grant me access to the course - Inclusive classroom please. I learnt about this programme pretty late and will like to engage on this particular course as the the enrollment dateline was on the 25th of December and the close of the course will be January 2nd.

May I humbly request if possible to grant me access to the course 'Inclusion classroom' as I can see that the enrollment closed earlier before I had the knowledge of such course happening here and the close date of the course as stated will be 2nd, January, 2024.
