- distinguish between oral activities which practise grammar and oral activities which are communicative
- evaluate a range of speaking activities
- modify activities to make them more effective in developing oral communication skills.

The aim of this module is to introduce you to a range of techniques and activities which promote speaking in your classroom. You'll look at the benefits of pair and group work and adapt tasks to maximise student interaction.

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

- distinguish between oral activities which practise grammar and oral activities which are communicative
- adapt reading tasks to make them more communicative.

Module 3: Understanding language practice activities

The aim of this module is to explore and evaluate a range of practice activities. The module also looks at flexible activities that can be adapted for different ages and levels. You have the opportunity to select appropriate activities which match with lesson aims, and justify your choices.

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

- identify the skills and language that different activities practise and address some common concerns about practice activities
- use songs, stories and mobile phones in a variety of ways for classroom language practice
- choose language practice activities which correspond to your lesson aims and learners' needs.

Hi salimayoucefi

If you have created an account, make sure you are logged in. Then you will see a tab next to the Home button on the top of this page that says "My Portfolio" - if you click on this and then "My courses", this will take you to the courses homepage.   From here you can click on "Explore all courses" (a green tab on the right) - you will be able to see all the available courses, and can click on "Enrol in activity" for the courses that interest you.

Hope that helps,

I am signed in and I have signed up for the course.

Hi Reansha,
This course is not running at the moment ( so you wouldn't see it in your portfolio). If you can't see your portfolio at all try logging out and then back in again, and clear cache to see if that helps.

HI Muh_Ali,

If you can see your portfolio, then you are okay - the course should be visible there from the course start date ( 19th July). We look forward to seeing you there :).   If you can't see your Portfolio  then I hope the following instructions help, get back in touch here if they don't!

Check that you are not logged into your TeachingEnglish account on a different device or browser. Log out of your account on all devices and browsers, and log in again. Then if you see My Portfolio, click or tap 'My courses' from MY PORTFOLIO. You should be taken to your training course on and after the start dates. If you still can't access your course, log out, clear the cache on your browser and log in again. Hope that helps!

When you have finished the course, on the course platform (MY PORTFOLIO > My courses), go to 'My awards' in the menu. Your certificate should be there - as long as you have completed 70% of the work :).
